Me

Me

Welcome to Darling & Daisy!

Mercedes here, I am thrilled to have you stop by my blog!  I suppose I  should begin by telling you a bit about myself.I was born and raised in Ottawa by the greatest Italian family ever.  My family consists mostly of passionate and incredibly talented artists.  I guess that’s how I came to be involved in so many delightful artistic endeavours.  I now live in Toronto, where on weekends you can find me garages sale-ing and thrift store shopping in Roncey Village, searching for anything and everything that might inspire me. Some say I’m a stingy garbage picker, but I prefer “thrifty treasure hunter.”

On weekdays,  I’m the girl talking to herself on the street car. To be fair I am probably on my way to an audition, or maybe an acting class or rehearsal.  Otherwise I am singing my heart out, sometimes in the mirror alone, other times jamming with some very talented artists. Last but certainly not least you will find me chillin’ at home with popcorn, Netflix and my two handsome boys,  only the most amazing boyfriend and little white dog a girl could ask for.

Darling & Daisy is a company originally based out of Ottawa, developed by my ridiculously talented sister/photographer Natalie, my mom Nancy, the queen bee of whimsical and elaborate design, my almost-sister Katie, the organizational brains of the operation, and my little sister Bianca, who can be put to work doing any crazy task we give her at any time of day/night.

I am a little bit of everything. Most of my talents come from my Mom, but I learned how to promote and run a successful  business when Natalie and I owned and operated The Lush Cake for 3 years. We designed cakes for all occasions, baking and designing them from start to finish.

So that is what brings me here to Toronto, and the Darling & Daisy chapter of my life.  Event design and dessert buffets combine my love of art and food, and my obsession with pretty little details, and throwing a great party.

The Darling & Daisy team and I hope to celebrate with you soon!
sweet love,

Mercedes Papalia
